The vast majority of airlines provides discounted tickets for children under 12 years of age. Children from 2 to 12 years of age receive 33% discount from the net fare. Infants under the age of 2 travelling on their parent’s (or guardian’s) lap can receive 90% discount. Some of the airlines do not charge them at all.
Children under 12 years of age should travel accompanied by an adult. Most airlines offer the possibility to purchase assistance for an unaccompanied minor. The assistance covers ticket and baggage check-in, care while on-board, and accompanying to a person in charge after arrival. Parents or guardians, who accompany the child to the airport are obliged to complete a form detailing the child’s name, age, medical condition, etc. and also the name and details of a person, who will collect the child upon arrival to the destination. Additional fee will be charged.
Children and youth between 12 and 16 years of age can travel alone, however most airlines offer possibility to purchase assistance for them too.
